Postcards from Argentina

Tears for Argentina

Many people will visit a tourist destination and take in the popular sites of museums, chapels and art galleries.
They may dine out to experience the local food and wine.friends

But they will never really get to know the best of a city or a country.

The people.

Visit Argentina and you may learn about :

Maradona - Argentine football legend.

Evita - illegitimate child from the barrios who married a president and became a legend.

Che Guevara - revolutionary.

Carlos Gardel - tango singer, actor and playboy.

Quinquela Martin - famous painter of the port of Buenos Aires (La Boca).

Tango - a passionate Argentine dance that developed in the ports of Buenos Aires.

River Plate and Boca Juniors - two most influential football teams with the most fanatical fans.

Asado - Argentine barbecue.

Mate - a tea shared amongst friends and sipped through a straw.

Dulce de Leche - a sweet crème spread.

Avenida 9 de Julio - largest avenue in the world celebrating the independence of Argentina.

Caminito, La Boca - Italian portside city, famous for its brightly painted buildings.

Iguazu fallsCataratas del Iguazu, Misiones - amazing waterfalls.

Perito Moreno - glaciers in the south of Argentina.

But if you think you have learnt all there is to know about Argentina then you will need to pay more attention.
The thing that has made my time, and my son Joshua’s time, truly worthwhile is the friendships we have made.
Friendship and family in Argentina are passions.

We leave Argentina celebrating it's culture, legends and history... but it will be my dear friends, and the memories of time spent with them, that I will treasure.

Friends within the St Ethnea College community and local community.
Friends within the barrios communities.

I leave Argentina not with a memory of poverty, abuse and violence.
I leave Argentina with a heartfelt tribute to what Argentineans value most -
‘amistad’…. friendship.

‘Oh! My beloved Buenos Aires, the moment I see you again, all sadness will be forgotten…’
Carlos Gardel

Once you visit Argentina you leave a piece of your heart behind.

Thank you Argentina for our 5 months.
A beautiful, crazy experience.
