Thinking about the future
Opportunities for Career Education
At St Aloysius College we actively assist students to make informed choices about their future through counselling, career education programs and careful subject selection at the senior secondary level. A comprehensive guide to career and study options may be found on the SAC library web page. See Careers.
We also provide opportunities for students from Year 10 to participate in vocational programs.
Vocational Education and Training (VET) Programs
VET courses offer students opportunities to undertake work related training while they are still at school in areas such as hospitality, retail, community services, multi media, graphic design, fashion and the music industry.
Some students use VET as a possible career pathway, some use the qualification to gain part-time work whilst they study at school or university, while others are simply looking for an added challenge that will complement their school studies. Students in Years 10, 11 and 12 are eligible to apply for VET courses.
Work Experience
Year 10 students participate in Work Experience whereby they attend a work placement of their choice for one week. The program enables the students to explore possible career paths for the future and leads to informed subject selection for Stage 1 and 2.
