A Night at the Opera
Recently, a group of our Music students had the remarkable opportunity to attend the final dress rehearsal of The Magic Flute, presented by the State Opera of South Australia. For many, it was their first time experiencing a live opera — and the evening proved to be both inspiring and unforgettable.
Mozart’s beloved work was brought to life through expressive vocal performances, a vibrant orchestral accompaniment, and visually stunning staging. The production’s imaginative costumes and theatrical atmosphere captivated the students, offering a rare glimpse into the world of professional opera.
“On Tuesday night, we had the opportunity to watch The Magic Flute, an opera composed by Mozart. This was a unique experience that allowed us to enjoy powerful singing and live orchestral music. The costumes, staging, and atmosphere made it unlike any other performance we had seen before. It was a memorable evening that gave us a greater appreciation for classical music and the art of opera.”

On Tuesday evening, we had the privilege of attending a rehearsal of The Magic Flute, originally composed by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. This experience was both educational and inspiring, deepening our understanding and appreciation of classical and operatic music. It was a rare and invaluable opportunity to observe professional musicians at work in a genre that is relatively unfamiliar to us.

This excursion not only introduced students to the grandeur and artistry of opera, but also broadened their musical perspectives. It encouraged them to listen more attentively, think more deeply, and engage with music in new and meaningful ways.

Our Students’ Voices Reach Beyond School
We are proud to celebrate Sophie (Year 3), Amaya (Year 3), Aleesha (Year 3), and Anuki (Year 8), who have been part of the South Australian Children’s Choir (SACC) since 2024. Their dedication to music recently took them beyond the classroom, performing for national and international dignitaries at the Australian American Leadership Dialogue in Adelaide.
Their renditions of “I Am Australian” and “I Still Call Australia Home” at the Adelaide Town Hall were met with widespread praise, showcasing their talent and commitment. We are thrilled to see their school musical journey leading to such remarkable achievements.
Check out the official pictures on the SACC website and watch clips on their Facebook page below. You can also visit the AALD website to get a sense of the event.
