Honouring the 2/43rd Battalion: A Moment of Reflection

Honouring the 2/43rd Battalion: A Moment of Reflection

As we commemorated on Tuesday 11 November, we paused to reflected on the deep and enduring connection between St Aloysius College and the family and friends of the 2/43rd Battalion.

They shall grow not old,

as we that are left grow old;

Age shall not weary them,

nor the years condemn. At the going

down of the sun and in the morning,

we will remember them.

Lest we forget

year 11 Modern History students reflected:

“Attending the Remembrance Day Service was a really meaningful experience that allowed myself and my peers to honour those who served and passed during the war. During the minute of silence, we were able to reflect on the bravery and commitment of soldiers who have fought in wars and conflicts, allowing us to develop a deep connection towards their lives. The service reminded us of the importance of gratitude and continuing to remember their sacrifices in our lives today.” Imogen

“My experience at the remembrance day ceremony was insightful. Being able to speak to Mr Kelly and observe the crosses opened my eyes to the trauma that these soldiers went through. Having the opportunity to lay the wreath was an honour and I appreciated the opportunity to attend and observe the ceremony.” Amy
