At St Aloysius College we maintain the commitment of the founding Sisters of Mercy to work with the most marginalised people in our community.
We respect all cultures and religious traditions. Our school population reflects the diversity of Australian society.
Concerns for justice, equity and the environment inform curriculum planning. Partnerships with church, government and community agencies provide opportunities for student learning and effective activism.
The SAC Justice and Mercy (JAM) group meets regularly for information sharing, leadership development and action planning. Students from Years 7 to Year 12 form this energetic and dedicated group.
The group participates in formation workshops with invited speakers. Issues of concern are chosen for promotion to the broader school community, action timelines are developed and campaign and fundraising materials are prepared. Many creative ideas are generated to raise awareness and funds for special projects.
