JAM News
It has been a great joy to see so many students eagerly engaging with Justice and Mercy initiatives at SAC! With loyal JAM participants from past years returning to the group, and newer faces in our midst, it’s shaping up to be a great year of learning, connecting and serving the community.
International Women’s Day
On March 8 each year, we #MarchForward, celebrating International Women’s Day! We reflect with gratitude on women who’ve paved the way for progress so that we can enjoy the freedoms and rights that we have, while acknowledging there is still a way to go to achieve equity for all. Lunchtime’s festivities were something to remember, with our Drum Corps leading a musical #MarchFoward, which many students keenly joined!

Green Thumbs put to Work
On Friday Week 5, many students helped to re-plant our garden beds with flowers and herbs. Through nurturing this small patch of our own backyard, students will enjoy seeing growth flourish, and how nature rewards our efforts. The garden beds will beautify our shared space and help to foster community spirit. Next time you’re near the Mitchell Courtyard, take a peek at the progress!

Harmony Day

Harmony Week is celebrated Australia-wide, in recognition of the enormous benefits that multiculturalism offers our society. Dozens of nationalities are represented amid our SAC community, and we are looking forward to celebrating this in Week 8.
We are excited to welcome back Gemma Sisia, Founder of the School of St Jude in Tanzania, to SAC during Harmony Week. Gemma will be speaking at the College on the March 20 from 7-8:30pm, sharing inspiring tales with two of St Jude’s alumni, John Stanley and Winnie Nemes, to celebrate 23 years of fighting poverty through education. Our Year 12 cohort sponsors a scholarship for a Year 2 student at St Jude’s named Angel. Tickets to meet Gemma, John and Winnie are free, but registration is necessary. Follow this link to book: https://www.trybooking.com/CYZRM
Further Harmony Day activities will be announced via SEQTA notices in the coming week! We invite all students wishing to participate in Harmony Day activities to attend JAM next Friday to finalise plans for what is sure to be an exciting celebration, or email [email protected] with specific ideas for celebrating this national event.
