It has been another busy term for Primary Sport at SAC!

Our Year 5/6 Soccer team and Year 3/4 Netball teams enjoyed fantastic seasons filled with teamwork, positivity, and plenty of games. Our Come n Try programs were also a great success, with many Junior Primary students participating in Auskick, Netball, and Little Athletics throughout the term. Meanwhile, our Year 5 Cheer students learned new techniques and enjoyed an exciting new way to stay active and move their bodies. Our SACPSSA Cross Country Team had a fun day challenging themselves earlier this term, and we hope they enjoyed the experience and the opportunity to push themselves outside their comfort zones.

Students in Years 3 to 6 involved in the Superkick program competed at the Norwood Girls Cup. Our Year 3/4 teams enjoyed plenty of game time, showcasing the AFL skills they had developed throughout the program, while our Year 5/6 team finished the day on a high by winning the much anticipated kicking competition. The Year 5/6 Knockout Basketball Team also had a busy day competing at the Statewide Basketball Carnival. We would like to thank the team and Mr Casey for their commitment and hard work across countless training sessions over the past two terms.

The Year 6 cohort spent a day at the SACPSSA Touch Football Carnival, putting into practice the skills they had developed during PE lessons throughout the term. Students demonstrated incredible improvement and enthusiasm throughout the day .

Earlier this term, our Year 4 to 6 athletes competed at the SAPSASA Athletics District Carnival, with Eden and Zara earning selection to compete at the State Carnival. We would also like to congratulate Micaela on her selection in the East Adelaide Hockey Team, who finished second at the state carnival and Maggie and Zara on their selection in the East Adelaide AFL Team. Congratulations to these students on their outstanding achievements and efforts!

We would also like to share some student achievements with the SAC community. Makenna recently competed at the Cheercon States where she competed in two teams, Youth Novice who placed first and were bronze grand champs, and in Youth Level 1 who placed 1st in their division and were also crowned Grand Champs. Makenna’s team were also awarded a bid to America next April 2027 to compete at Youth Summit in Tampa Florida. Congratulations, Makenna on this amazing achievement!

Looking ahead to next term, we are excited for another jam-packed season of sport. Our AFL, Basketball, and Volleyball teams will be competing in their respective competitions, while Junior Primary students will have the opportunity to participate in Come n Try Multi-Sport, Cricket, and Softball programs. Students in Years 5 and 6 can also look forward to Come n Try Water Polo. In addition, we are excited to launch a new Run Club for students in Years 3 to 6 who are looking to improve their fitness, challenge themselves, and enjoy some fun with friends. As the term comes to a close, we encourage everyone to stay active, have fun, and make the most of the holiday break. We look forward to seeing you all back next term!

A Winning Attitude!

The Year 6 Tag Football Team had a great day at the North Eastern League Carnvial run by the NRL. Not only did they experience a new game, but were awarded with the Inclusive Award for their team work and positivity throughout the day. We wish them good luck when they compete in the state championships in Term 4!
