Hello everyone, and welcome to our Term 4 newsletter, the final instalment for 2023 but our first newsletter as your new Director of SAC OSHC! Term 3 and 4 have flown by in a flash, as we’ve welcomed our mid-term receptions, flown by Mercy Day and the Athletics Carnival, and now head towards the final few weeks of term. I’d like to personally thank you all for warmly welcoming me into the service these past few months. It has been an absolute delight to get to know you all, and I promise I will remember names a lot better come 2024!
Previously being the Assistant Director of another OSHC, I hold a deeply embedded passion for working within the OSHC sector and the value it brings to the learning and development of children outside of the classroom space. OSHC is a space of socioemotional development, play-based discovery, and spontaneous child-directed exploration; this is reflected in the My Time Our Place curriculum framework as well as the National Quality Framework. Similar to the Australian Curriculum used within school-based education, the MTOP and NQF frameworks take a strengthened approach towards nurturing the holistic and socioemotional development of children through spontaneous and guided play-based learning. Outside of OSHC, I am passionate about exploring psychology and take a strong interest in exploring mental health and wellbeing development within young people. I enjoy hiking the great outdoors, playing video games, creating art, and cuddling up with my mini fur family: Mylo (Finnish Lapphund – Dog), Hendrick (DSH – Cat) and Joy (DSH – Cat).
Across Term 3 and 4, our OSHC family has also expanded to include several new faces. I’d like to formally welcome Poppy, Carla, Lily, and Jonathon to the team. Poppy has been with us since the beginning of Term 3, and can typically be spotted around the yard with a warm smile to match her friendly nature. Carla has joined us for the October vacation care period and will be joining us again in December as she returns from her placement. Joining us at the same time as Carla, Lily’s charismatic and friendly nature allows her to build connections across all different ages and year levels. Jon is our most recent edition within the past few weeks. Coming from a teaching and graphic design background, he brings with him a passion for adventure and play-based exploration. If you see any of our new educators, please join me in welcoming them and don’t hesitate to stop for a quick chat with them!
With the end of term, we will be saying farewell to our year 6 students who attend OSHC, as they embark on their exciting journey into the world of high school! We wish our year 6’s all the very best on their new journey ahead, and hope that the road ahead is one filled with excitement, adventure, and lots of incredible experiences to cherish. We will always be nearby to say hi!
Over the upcoming holiday period, we wish our families a safe and happy break. As we begin to close the chapter on 2023, we look forward to an exciting year ahead with you all.
Parent OSHC Survey – Thank you!
I’d like to extend a big thank you to all of our families who took the time to complete the OSHC Parent Survey sent out by the school leadership team earlier this term. There is a range of fantastic feedback that has been provided, and I appreciate the careful detail given in your responses. As 2024 approaches, we will be changing some of the current dynamics and structures currently in place to give a clean, fresh start to SAC OSHC for 2024. Your feedback will play an important role as we review what could be improved upon or added to our OSHC. As changes are made, these will be communicated in advance to ensure our families are aware.
Our OSHC families are an important part of our community, and we look forward to building a space that embraces a collaborative vision across our students, families, and educators.

WELCOME Poppy, Jon & lILY!
Hi my name is Poppy and I am a new OSHC educator at St Aloysius College. Currently I am studying full time at Tabor College in Adelaide, where I hope to become a secondary home economics teacher. My passions outside of work and study include baking, sewing and taking care of my dog, Ebony, who is a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel. I am beyond excited to begin my journey as an OSHC educator and I’m thankful to be a part of the team at St Aloysius College!
Hello, I’m Jon, your new OSHC educator. I’m a qualified primary school teacher and have relieved at schools all around Adelaide. I also used to work just around the corner at Gilles Street School OSHC. I love drawing, music, cooking, and all things creative. The students here have made an amazing first impression on me and I’m excited to join the team!
My name is Lily and I am a new educator starting at the OSHC. I am an old scholar from SAC and am in my first year of university, studying secondary teaching and science. I enjoy watching movies and tv shows, reading books and spending time with family and friends. I look forward to getting to know the OSHC community!
