Young Voices, Big Impact
Young Voices, Big Impact
The Year 5 students have been exploring Laudato Si’ and what it means to care for our “Common Home.” As part of their Religious Education assessment, they researched environmental issues, examined their impact on vulnerable people, and were challenged to take action. Inspired by their learning, Poppy, Ava and Yasmin took this challenge a step further. While investigating the issue of fast fashion, they were so engaged that they chose to write a letter to Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, sharing their concerns and ideas for change.
Over the holiday break, an exciting surprise arrived…a reply from the Prime Minister himself. In his letter, he thanked the girls for sharing their ideas, acknowledged the importance of young voices, and described them as “the thinkers and innovators of the future,” encouraging them to keep making a positive difference. This special moment captures the true spirit of the task and Pope Francis’ message in Laudato Si’, not just learning about change, but actively being part of it for the good of all. We are incredibly proud of their compassion, initiative and willingness to make a difference.
